Frequently Asked Questions
What is a single skin tank?
A single skin tank consists of a single skin product made from a single mould suitable for installations around oftec guidelines- Please visit www.oftec.org for more information.
What is a bunded tank?
A bunded tank is simply a tank within another tank. The bund outer is 10% larger than the inner. Any problems that may occur with the tank, the bund will contain any oil that has managed to escape. They are more suitable for overall installations around the oftec guidelines.
What are the requirements regarding the base for my tank?
All tanks should be installed on a flat, fire resistant surface. This can either be made from concrete or slabs where the thickness should be 50mm at least. The base for the tank should extend at least 300mm beyond the widest point of the tank to fully support the base in its entirety. Materials un-suitable for purpose would be piers, wood and anything combustible. For further information please visit www.oftec.org.
Where do I fit my electronic gauge?
On the top of the tank there is a blanking plate or dipstick as the same layout to the Apollo. This is where you screw in the device.
Can I fit a sight gauge to all QSS tanks?
You cannot fit sight gauges to bunded tanks. At most installations a sight gauge will violate building & environmental regulations. However, they are ok to fit on single skin tanks.
Water has managed to get into my tank, what should I do?
Condensation will form in any oil tank which is completely normal. This can be a result of different temperatures throughout the days and nights of the year. Oil tanks need to be inspected every year to see if there is any water in the tank. If so, this needs to be removed which can be achieved by most installations fuel distributors.
What voltage can I have on a fuelstation?
You can have 230v (standard), 110v or 12v. we do not recommend a 12v on a 5000 litre fuelstation as it drops down to 20-30 litres a minute which causes problems. The draw line is 13’ approx so there would not be enough power. We do not recommend more than 55 litres pm as it causes frothing.
Can you put QSS tanks underground?
We do not specialise in underground tanks, however providing the tank is stored in some sort of chamber and the tank is open to the air with nothing covering it (e.g soil) you can use any tank proving it is accessible. For more information on this visit www.oftec.org.
How far can a tank be to a watercourse?
For all information on watercourses visit the oftec website www.oftec.org
Do I need a bunded tank?
Within a certain distance to any watercourse, window or drain the tank should be bunded. For accurate distances visit www.oftec.org
What size outlet comes on my tank?
On a bunded tank a 1" bsp female outlet comes as standard. Single skin tanks can come with either a 1" or 2" outlet. The water tanks come with an optional of 1", 1.5" or 2" outlets.
What filter is provided on the fuelstations?
There are 2x filters on the fuelstations. One on the motor and the other one on the end of the suction line. A 10 micron filter can be fitted at an extra cost.
What spec and of biodiesel can the fuelbanks hold?
The fuelstations are all ok for biodiesel up to B30.
What fuels can the tanks hold?
Our oil tanks are suitable for oil, derv and kerosene. The fuelstations are suitable for oil, derv, kerosene and biodiesel.
What range can the Apollo work from?
The Apollo can work from a 200metre range. For more information on the Apollo, visit www.dunravensystems.com
Where can I find the serial number on my tank?
The serial number is located in front of the 4" screw cap on the right hand side. Some of our tanks manage to get through without a serial number on them atall, if this is the case with yours it is not a problem and nothing to worry about. The tank will still be under warranty.
What is the warranty on QSS tanks?
The warranty on single skins are 2 years and on bunded, 10 years. There is an option to have a 5 year warranty on the single tanks for an extra £49.99.

My Apollo is reading incorrectly
For more information and help on the settings your Apollo should be on visit www.dunravensystems.com.
How do I prime the pump on my fuelstation?
The pumps on the fuelstations always need to be primed before use. There are two ways of doing this. One way is to take the nozzle off the gun and put it into the 4" viewing point and let it run for 2/3 minutes. The other way is to take off the aluminium knut on the top of the pump, undo it and pour diesel into the motor.
What does the filter kit include?
It includes the reduced fittings, in-line filter bowl including shut-off valve and a roll of PTFE tape. However the tape is not always needed. This connects to our outlet which reduces down to the filter where the oil filters through. On the top of the filter there is an isolation point. After, the filter bowl reduces down to 10mm to connect to the copper pipe work.
Can I lock my bunded tank?
Yes, on the inner tank there is a 4" viewing point with a cap fitted over the top. There are two loop holes on the cap to secure a padlock through.
What are the caps for on the tank?
There is a 2" fill point on the left, a 4" viewing cap in the middle. On the bunded tanks there is also a 12-16" manhole cover.
What materials are the QSS tanks manufactured from?
Medium density polyethylene
Can I have a top outlet on my tank?
Yes. All of our single and bunded tanks can have a top outlet. The only difference you will find is a slightly longer lead time as it is not a stock item.
What is an OPD?
An OPD stands for an overfill prevention device. This device is a float mechanism which floats on the fuel level and automatically shuts off the supply when the tank is full.
